Amicci's - Italian style Pizza, Keene, NH

Good Eats in Town ~ 2nd issue – originally posted in “Life as Russ
Back to the plan....our weekly dinner at Amicci's. This is by far, our favorite eating establishment in Keene! It's just a little pizza joint, but it has a lot of history, a great setting and the proprietors are awesome!

Amicci's
A little History
Back in the day, when I was a little guy (in the 70's), this used to be Mr. Pizza. It was kind of a biker bar/pizza place. Nana used to bring us here for a slice once in a while at lunch (when it was relatively quiet.
I don't remember the name of the place when I was in high school or college here in Keene, but it had morphed a little. More of a 18-25 something, pizza and beer joint, a lot of us hippie types, after hours Kilkenny's types visited.
It's morphed again in recent years...I couldn't tell you when, probably longer ago than I'd like to think. It's run by a really nice couple. We met them when our kids played baseball together last year.  The whole gang that works there is great!

Our experiences
We used to go every Wednesday night after Tracy & Jem had Cello. Now we go more often on Friday nights, and I go for a slice at lunch every so often.

Where else can you get a family sized pepperoni pizza, cooked to perfection, a basket of spicy buffalo tenders with bleu cheese & 4 drinks for under $25 and have leftovers to take home for lunch.

We end up staying a while in the summer and watching the Red Sox on TV and watching the people go by outside the big window....a direct view to the fun night life of Keene. Not that Keene is New York or Boston, but it is a beautiful town and a college town, so there is enough to keep you interested. And Amicci's is at the heart!

I took all the photos with my phone cam… I’ll approach photography with better equipment in the future.

That's it for this week.  Next time....Armadillos Burritos
